I'm trying to write an essay comparing the love courtship in the 21st centurty to the love courtship during Shakespeare's era. However, I'm having a hard time finding articles about the love courtship during that era. If anyone come across with an article or a link, please send me an email.
It is funny how people do you "crazy" things for love. It seems that during Shakespeare's era it was a crazy thing to do if you marry someone for love, especially if it the parents were against it. Today, it is crazy to marry someone just for love, without considering the other major factors (education/ background/ social status) that plays a role when deciding to or not to marry or fall in love.
It is hard to find true or eternal love... because wouldn't true love still be present between two people if they had nothing else but each other? Isn't love unconditional?
I think each person has an ideal of what love supposed to be or feel like, and often times the "ideal scenario" don't quite fit the "real life scenario".
How is it to love someone completely opposite of you and has nothing to offer you but his/her love? Is that even possible?

yeah, i agree with carm. people could love someone that has nothing to give but love, like in the movie, when Titania is fall in love with the transformed Bottom who is with a ass head. I think Shakespear might want to show us the purity of love or something...ppl could just love someone for love but not for money or something else.
well..probably not.i take my words back.i thought it over again, and that was not a good example of that.heh
Seriously. it's hard to find something to support the idea, cuz it's a freakin fictional story. the sites we have on this blog are all summary of the movie. hmm......
Well - if you are comparing courtships, or different types of love you can use psychology studies, encyclopedias and dictionaries to support your thesis. You can also use other fictional stories to support your thesis. For example, if you wanted to argue that Shakespeare had issues with romance and that his writings reinforced that you could use Romeo and Juliet as supporting material, etc... You can also use other movies, stories, plays and scenes or quotes from them to support your ideas - am I making sense?
can i do something like movie anlysis? just talk about some thesis of the movie, and then relate them to some other sources somehow..
is there anyone doing the same thing? i think it's easier to me, otherwise, i dont think i could make it to 8+ pages...
Love is one concept that many try to understand but really the concept is simple. From learning about Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream two things lthat is for sure in the play that is also true of real life: romantic love is a frenzy that combines fantastical elements and the imposing reality but overall, love is still desirable; second, love is inconsistent. Love is inconsistent in the aspect of what is love exactly, therefore, a person's ideals of love varies from another.
